Frequently Asked Questions

Baby Booty® was created as a way to prepare for the physical demands of parenthood.

Baby Booty is a workout followed by social time for parents/caregivers and babies/toddlers! Baby-wearing is optional, pregnancy is always welcome. Toddlers are welcome too ages 4 and under! The exercises we do in class are based on movements of everyday life as a new parent/caregiver; squatting, hingeing, lifting, bending. The workout includes squats, lunges, arm exercises, standing ab exercises, and movements utilizing the barre (or a chair if at home). Baby Booty is for all parents in their prenatal and postpartum journey, and all caregivers, as all the exercises can be modified for your body and fitness level.

Baby Booty has become so much more than a workout…we invite you to join our community at our studios in Portland, ME and Dedham, MA! We also offer a library of on-demand recorded classes!

What’s Baby Booty’s favorite carrier? We love ergobaby and their Omni 360! Perfect for infant through toddler!

  • You can sign up for Baby Booty classes in Portland, ME here and Dedham, MA here.

Should you cancel outside of the 2-hour window the class credit will be returned to your account. Should you cancel within the 2 hour window before the class starts the credit will be forfeited. This is for both class packs and members with 3x or 4x classes per month. If you are an Unlimited member you are allowed 1 late cancel or no show per month no fee and outside of that you will be charged $10 per late cancel/no show as an unlimited member. 3x and 4x class/mo members are charged $10 per late cancel or no show. We understand that things happen with babies and schedules change (especially naps!), but in order for us to sustain our business we must maintain this policy. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Babies can come to Baby Booty as young as 5 weeks as long as they can be worn comfortably and safely in a wrap or carrier. Birthing parents must be cleared by their doctor for exercise.

  • We welcome toddlers up to 4 in all classes. Baby-wearing is optional for all ages, so the toddlers and babies are free to play while you workout. You can bring toys and snacks for your toddler. In our studios we have a play area with toys.

  • For young babies, you may find a stretchy wrap more comfortable, or if you use a structured carrier, consider using a newborn insert for the best fit. Babies younger than 4 months should be worn facing the parent. Once the baby is at least 4 months they may want to face outward. Make sure the lower back strap is secure on your carrier. Make sure your baby is in a safe and comfortable position and you are too! A baby sling or wrap can be worn with newborns in Baby Booty- but as your baby gets heavier it’s harder to secure a wrap throughout the workout. Your baby’s safety is the number one priority. Molly and Ella like the Ergo Baby Carriers, which you can buy online or at Target!

  • YES! Baby Booty is an amazing 30-minute full-body workout that is not limited to those who are pregnant or postpartum parents. We do have some specific workouts designed for doing without a baby! Keep in mind though, that the main benefits of the majority of Baby Booty classes are the added “baby weight” which makes the workout more challenging. Meeting other parents and introducing your baby to other little ones (whether online via zoom or in-person)is a huge perk too! Any parents with older kids are welcome to take a class! We know sometimes you just need 30 minutes to yourself to move your body!

  • YES! In a Baby Booty class safety for you and your baby is the priority, so we emphasize taking a break if your baby isn’t happy or comfortable, or if you feel lightheaded, dizzy, dehydrated or anything out of the ordinary for your body. Baby Booty believes in safe and healthy exercise for pregnancy and postpartum by following the guidelines set forth by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). When attending a Baby Booty class in person at a studio or gym we can modify exercises for each parent so that everyone has a safe workout experience. When taking an on-demand Baby Booty class at home you will need to monitor your body and your baby and exercise at your own risk.  We will call out where modifications can be made on different exercises. Always talk to your doctor before beginning an exercise program.

  • The cost is $28 for a drop in class, $120 for a 5 class pack. We also offer an membership options to save you money for both MA and Maine. New clients can get their first class for $18 and get HALF OFF their first month of a membership!

  • There are many benefits to exercising before and after your baby arrives!

    Benefits include:

Increased energy, better sleep, better strength and endurance, less overall body fat, improved self-image, mood, and posture, reduced risk of gestational diabetes, reduced risk of high blood pressure, lower incidence of C- section birth, fewer obstetric interventions

This is based on studies showing women who exercise at a mild to moderate intensity for 30 minutes three or more times a week.

Benefits of exercise after pregnancy include:

Quicker return to pre-pregnancy shape, lower incidences of postpartum depression, better quality of sleep, less physical discomfort in back, arms, and shoulders- all muscles used every day as a new parent, faster recovery from pregnancy, labor, and delivery (abdominals, pelvic floor)

  • We are no longer offering Pop up classes, but we are considering franchising. For more info contact:
